AWW:Wednesday 01 January 2020 - cobwebs ahoy!

First, apologies for the delay in sending out this walk report. It appears there were more cobwebs than expected!

The participants, in order of resident proximity to Benagil -  Marion, John & Sue, Gill & Jim, Sara, Linda & Russell, and finally representing the western parishes, John(cycling) and for the east, Frank(no cycling)!

Well it was a beautiful day to welcome in the New Year and all participants were chaffing at the bit to get going! Off we go through quite countryside - no one about, except a few noisy dogs, barking, which is what dogs do to bring in the bells. Although the Benagil area is known to be a fairly prosperous area there are a surprising number of derelict properties and some of these appear to be relatively recent builds - opportunities for entrepreneurs/squatters!

After 2 hours we  arrived at our snack stop at the church at Snr da Rocha - amazing vistas which we will long remember, a New Year's Day and as Frank pointed out, a New decade, a new challenge - especially to try to make it to the next new decade!

After fluid and food replenishment we set off following the coast most of the way back to Benagil.

The coastline could not have looked better - many a picture postcard view, the most memorable would probably be of the archway rock formation which most only realised after we had walked across it, was indeed a natural archway with clear, distinct and substantial structural cracks!

On completion of the walk, we convoyed back to our house in Carvoeiro and enjoyed some liquid refreshments, snacks and the crack! A great way to welcome in the New!

Distance :16 kms
Time: 4 hrs
Elevation gain: I havn't a clue!
Further information : none.
