AWW VA Day 15. Marmelete to Pincho November 12th 2022

AWW VA Day 15, November 12th 2022.   Marmelete to Pincho

Unusually for the AWW, we met on a Saturday to complete the Marmelete to Pincho stage to accommodate those from the UK who had limited days in Portugal.

L to R: Alan, Gill, John, Linda, Susan, Miriam, Sue, Miriam (was she just looking for her phone ...again!!), Ros, Geoff and Jim. Unfortunately Ken was missing due to a sore hip from the previous walk, but there was no sick note in sight. (Typical....Toby and Bica look the right way for once, but Marian doesn't!!....Ed)

Off we set on what was to be a long walk.  We left Pincho in great spirits......

We soon came across a Medronha museum complete with a still.

and Geoff and Sue didn't want to leave

We never did discover what the lights were on the telegraph pole. But it was soon time for a banana break and LInda tried to coax Toby to drink.

Girl power was in evidence this week!

We were all ready for lunch now and managed to find a shady spot, even though several of us got bitten.

After lunch, the shady paths gave way to more open tracks with fabulous views.

Miram and Bica thought they were nearly home.  We also discovered some fabulous paintings on the walls depicting old customs This one was of shepherds

Jim and Bica lead the way.                             This was an original way marker for the VA.  The cistus flower.  It looked recently repainted and we wondered who might be doing them

It had rained a lot during the previous week and there was plenty of water for the dogs and it also needed  some tricky negotiation by the walkers.

One final hill and then we were done.     Time for a well earned drink in the café.

Cheers Jill and Jim!
