Lynx Farm and Arade
The copout for this blog is just to refer you to what we did in March this year...
AWW 2015-24: Lynx Farm & Arade.....and BEES....26 March 2025
Not a lot changed , but perhaps a few things....
Plan A was to walk from the Honey Cafe, but a recce showed a rather awkward water crossing, so Plan B was simply to repeat our March walk and hope that the bees would not be a problem in November. 21 walkers duly turned up at the Silva for a coffee and set off promptly. a few moments later , we were met by Tim comingt the other way.....whilst he had duly noted the notice on the tin, viz ".....turn left for cafe Silva and it is immediately on the left. Please note, it doesn't actually have a name outside, but there is a big Delta Coffee sign."....he nevertheless sailed past it as it didn't have a name !
Bruce kindly waited for him to catch up ( Tim is a jogger) and we took a starter photo to use up some time:
We welcomed back Steph and David whom we hadn't seen since pre-covid days , also Audrey and James who are back looking after Bica.....from left to right....Sue, James, Audrey, Martin, Mora, Bruce, Julie, Marc,Tony, Jan, Peter, Bev, David, Karen, Linda, Ros, Steph, Richard, Stephen, Steve....
In Alan's absence, I often led from the back to take photos.....the first water crossing barely lived up to it's name...
What was that about straggling?....
The outer fence of the Lynx farm had been breached...
and the second water crossing wasn't much either...
It was good to see so much water in the Arade when we paused to admire it...
As usual, no signs of lynx, but John did capture this a few years ago.
The lunch chairs had morphed into loungers since we were here last...
We found the right hand turn easily this time...though these last hills were a bit strenuous...and thankfully no bees...
For once I managed to get to the front for a photo..
Some went to look at the ancient graves, details at :
Circuito Arqueológico da Vilarinha – Vale Fuzeiros (visitalgarve.pt)
The rest were more interested in getting back to the Silva Cafe for a banana and coffee ( urgh!) or something stronger...
Thanks to all who came. For some reason I recorded only 14.4kms as opposed to 15 last time....a good speed of 4.1kph, walking for a shade under three and a half hours....though it felt like more!
Back in the day.....when we were younger....we did the 20km version of this walk;

Geoff
Great walk and photos Geoff thank you . Are you looking for a permanent photographer position ?
ReplyDeleteA very pleasant walk and not as wet as expected. 21 walkers must be close to a record, although I'm a relative newby. But the quantity of different sweets being passed around might also be a record. No complaints about lack of energy.
ReplyDeleteLovely walk it was great to join in you guys Thanks to Bica :)
